early/mid 80's
The Bongos were to appear the week before This Happy Breed
at Jock McDonalds 'club' (Studio 21) at the
Hope in Richmond. After watching the Bongos play their soundcheck dressed in 'ripped jeans'
the Landlord asked when the band were going to change into their 'stage gear'.
As the Bongos did not have any boogaloo shirts with them the Landlord pulled the plug
and by way of recompense treated everyone to his own rendition of the Christopher Cross
classic 'Ride like the Wind' more than once during the evening.
As a gesture of solidarity with the Bongos, and to save any further
Ride like the Wind misery from 'Mr Light Entertainment'
This Happy Breed decided to pull out of the Hope gig.
This Happy Breed did not possess any boogaloo shirts either...
