This Curtain
1981

The line-up that was to become 'This Happy Breed' settled briefly on the uninspiring name 'This Curtain'. The band gathered material from their previous bands before going into Elephant Studios in Wapping for their first demo recording (29.8.81). They recorded 'On Trains', 'Love Song', 'Tarquin Tango' and 'Impressions' which got an icy response from every A&R department that received the tape.
An interesting side-project by Lyons and the Afford brothers involved pioneering recordings using only a drum machine and several effects pedals.
